What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a holistic, drug-free, non-invasive, hands-on therapy that diagnoses and treats: muscle, joint, spine, and nervous system issues that affect the body's movement. It is commonly used to treat back pain, neck discomfort, and postural strain, but considers the body as a whole.

Chiropractic Care vs. Osteopathy

  • Chiropractic Care and Osteopathy share a common origin. Both were developed in the late 1800s with the understanding that the body functions best when its structure is aligned and moving freely.

  • Chiropractors perform detailed assessments of the spine, joints, and nervous system. Treatment often includes high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) adjustments which are precise thrusts designed to restore joint motion and improve overall function. Many chiropractors also incorporate soft tissue work, stretching, mobilizations, or exercise recommendations to complement spinal adjustments.

  • Osteopathic manual practitioners assess the body as an integrated whole, focusing on how joints, muscles, and connective tissues interact. Treatment typically involves low-velocity joint mobilizations and sustained techniques aimed at releasing restrictions and improving balance throughout the body. Depending on the individual, treatment may also include soft tissue release, stretching, cranial, or visceral techniques.
